activity holidays new zealand

A day trip to Milford Sound for cruise has long been one of New Zealand's most popular day trips. Now there is a new way to experience the impressive Sound paddling in a kayak getting you closer to the wildlife and taking you into places the launches cannot access.

ITINERARY:

Setting off early from Te Anau we head along the splendid 120 kilometre alpine Milford Road.Even before reaching Milford Sound you will have experienced the Eglinton Valley, the Main Divide, the famous Homer Tunnel cut through solid rock and the rocky gorge of the Chasm. One we arrive at Milford Sound we will have safety briefing and kayaking instruction before we launch off from Deepwater Basin. We will be on the sound for 4/5 hours kayaking to Bowen Falls, out to Harrison Cove, across to Mitre Peak then we will stop for lunch at Sinbad Gully.

After lunch we explore up the Arthur River to the end of the New Zealand's most famous walking track the Milford Track.

Then it's back to the vehicle and preparing for return to Te Anau. Marine mammal encounters are not guaranteed as the wildlife are free spirits. We do however expect to see playful dolphins, fur seals lazing on the rocks and sky penguins on all trips as well as numerous sea birds, waterfalls and of course some of the best scenery in the world.
