Trip gradings should be considered as a guide only, as general
indications of what is demanded of travellers, taking into account
relevant factors including length, conditions and altitude.
Pre-travel conditioning is very desirable as the more prepared you
are, the more you will enjoy the trip. The most important attributes
for any adventure travel trip are a positive mental attitude, a
spirit of adventure, a sense of humour and a willingness to try
new and different experiences.

Easy |
The easiest, relaxing holidays with little physical exertion
required, just like a conventional tour or cruise. Some optional
easy walking along lower slope valley tracks, lakeside paths
and coasts.

Moderate |
Mid-range holidays, a moderate amount of physical exertion
is required in canoeing, sea kayaking, sailing, or short distance
walking. with a small day pack. Walking along contours of
mountain slopes, and descending by way of marked or recognised
paths. Some paths or coasts may be rough and/or stony.
Rafting: Medium rapids of moderate difficulty with clear
passages.

Active |
Active holidays involving rafting, sea kayaking, mountain
biking, horse trekking, or energetic walking with a small
pack on easier mountains and hills following recognised paths
& tracks. Some rough ground can be expected on most walks.
Rafting: Exciting, waves numerous, high & irregular,
rocks, eddies, rapids with passages clear though narrow, requires
team raft manoeuvring.

Energetic |
More strenuous, you need to be physically fit as you will
be involved in very active adventures: rafting, sea kayaking,
mountain biking or strenuous mountain and hill walking normally
on distinct tracks. Ascents and descents may be steep and
rough. Walk with a bigger pack and/or carry your own gear.
Rafting: Very exciting long rapids, waves powerful, irregular,
dangerous rocks, boiling eddies, powerful and precise team
raft manoeuvring.
