Fox Glacier Breaks

Fox Glacier Full Day Glacier Walk

This is the walk for adventurous people who are reasonably fit and agile and wish to have a full day exploring the fascinating features of the glacier. Groups are kept small.

Outfitted with instep crampons and using steps cut by the guide you re able to journey on the ice for 3.5 to 4 hours. Travel takes you to the lower icefall amidst the crevasses and the towering pinnacles. Here the glacier is moving up to two metres a day. Relax over lunch (not included) glacier style.

Fox Glacier Half Day Heli-hike

The fly-in, fly-out heli-hike combines the excitement of walking on the Fox Glacier with the thrill of helicopter flights. You visit the ice caves and other wonderful formations below the upper icefall, allowing you to explore a pat of the glacier that is otherwise very difficult to get to.

Equipped with hobnail boots, you board the helicopter for your first flight over the awe inspiring pillars of the lower icefall. Here the steep ice is in constant motion. You then circle the marvellous upper icefall and the Victoria Falls before landing.

Your remote landing site on the ice is an exceptionally beautiful part of the glacier. At this stage you are outfitted with instep crampons and set out to explore the beautiful formations and ice caves which are seen only here.

This trip offers exceptional photographic opportunities. Each departure is a true voyage of exploration: there are so many changing features that the guides always find something new.

Fox Glacier Ice Climbing Adventure

This day long experience introduces the adventurous to the exhilarating sport of ice climbing. on the spectacular ice walls in the lower part of the Fox Glacier. Your professional guide will tailor the day to offer variety and challenge to the novice and expert alike.
